LONG LINES

Don't say anything
about immigrants
and refugees.
Their long lines,
our long lines,
stretch back through
thousands of turbulent years
and are the blood
that pumps in
the veins and arteries
of our country.
They/we have come,
speaking a thousand
languages,
including some that
the world
has forgotten.
Those who would tell you
that you are different
or better
are stupid,
fucking fools.
Say nothing about
immigrants and
refugees.
The only word
they/we
need to hear
is
"welcome"
