The New Hookers of the Internet

It happened again today, as perhaps a hundred times before. I think it's kind of cute when Internet virtual-sex prostitutes give me a "like" for one of my posts about the Gospel of Thomas. When I click on their profiles, they are just like all the others of their kind: enticing me to look at their "naked pictures." But these women are not naturists or nudists, and their visuals, I assume, go far beyond simple nudity.

Let me say first of all, that some good friends of mine are anti-prostitution activists. While I have never paid a prostitute for sex (real or virtual), I respect them, because I respect women. Many of these women are single mothers, doing the best they can to provide for themselves and their children.

I have been acquainted with some well-known hookers, including Margo St. James, the founder of Coyote, the "Prostitutes' Union" of San Francisco. She once called me to take photos of their office, after it had been bombed. Those women trusted me for one reason: I showed them respect, and it was genuine respect.

The anti-prostitution activists cannot say that I am fostering or supporting prostitution. I am not. I am simply respecting and supporting women.
