Today we are passing the milestone of 60,000 visits to this poetry blog. Perhaps I should call it a poetry and photography blog, because the illustrations have become as important as the text.
I'd like to take this opportunity to offer a small, personal report. In other words, real life.
Sandy and I have now sold most of what we previously owned, and moved with our sweet dog, Betty, from Uruguay to Florida. It would be an understatement to say that it has been difficult, both physically and emotionally, but we are here, and we are here safely. We have already bought a car, are renting a house (one of the few that would accept a dog), and are looking for a house to buy, probably in the town of Hudson.
Yesterday we went shopping in the local Publix supermarket, and it was a great experience. I felt like I was in California. Fortunately, I had already found fresh ma-te in the Miami-Ft. Lauderdale area. Publix didn't have that, but I did find some cooked ma-te in tea bags, and bought it. I also got four nice bottles of wine for about $25. Among other things, we got delicious, fresh fruit, which was part of our breakfast this morning.
One of our discoveries yesterday was a restaurant and pizzeria that serves breakfast (real, American breakfasts) and lunch, with good prices and friendly service.
So far, this has been a great reintroduction to our homeland.
Thanks to all of you for your continued interest and enthusiasm
