my skin
very dark,
and carry
a blowgun,
then you would see
an earlier me,
from the very
distant past.
Or a man in a skullcap,
working with plants--
another me.
I have been a doctor,
and it will often
show,
since I know
those things.
I remember the time
before conception,
and who is to say
that I do not?
I am an old man,
and all I have to offer
is my truth.
