ᏂᎦᏛ Ꮎ ᎠᎴᏂᏙᎠᏎ,
ᎠᏓᏅᏌᏎ,
ᎠᎴ ᎤᏩᏌ Ꮎ ᎨᏒᎠᏎ
ᎤᏲᎱᏒ Ꮭ ᎠᏓᏅᏌᏎ.
ᎡᏆ ᎠᏓᏅᏙ
ᎨᏒᎠᏎ ᎠᏓᏅᏏᏙ,
ᎥᎴᏂᏙᎲ,
ᎠᎴ ᏗᏓᎴᎲᏍᎬ
ᏧᎾᏍᏗ ᎥᎿᎢ.

Everything that lives,
moves,
and only what is dead
does not.
The Great Spirit
is movement,
life,
and the source
of change.

ᏂᎦᏛ Ꮎ ᎠᎴᏂᏙᎠᏎ,
ᎠᏓᏅᏌᏎ,
ᎠᎴ ᎤᏩᏌ Ꮎ ᎨᏒᎠᏎ
ᎤᏲᎱᏒ Ꮭ ᎠᏓᏅᏌᏎ.
ᎡᏆ ᎠᏓᏅᏙ
ᎨᏒᎠᏎ ᎠᏓᏅᏏᏙ,
ᎥᎴᏂᏙᎲ,
ᎠᎴ ᏗᏓᎴᎲᏍᎬ
ᏧᎾᏍᏗ ᎥᎿᎢ.

There Are Disadvantages

There are disadvantages to age,
but there are also advantages.
I was more capable once,
but wrote much less,
and knew less.
Would I give up
any of my
seventy-six years?
No, I would not,
and I face the future
with confidence
and hope.
