रसॆ रूपॆ च गन्धॆ च शब्दॆ स्पर्शॆ च योगिनी |
सत्त्वं रजस्तमश्चैव रक्षॆन्नारायणी सदा || 40 ||

rasE rUpE cha gandhE cha shabdE sparshE cha yoginI |
sattvaM rajastamashchaiva rakShEnnArAyaNI sadA || 40 ||

May yoginI abide in taste, form, smell, sound, and touch,
and may nArAyaNI always protect my sattva, rajas, and tamas.

[Note: I've chosen not to translate the names of the three guNas or strands (sattva, rajas, and tamas) of which prakRRiti (nature) is woven according to saMkhya philosophy, because each encompasses several concepts. Sattva is associated with goodness, light, spirit, and harmony; Rajas suggests passion, excess, and materialism; tamas represents darkness, error, and illusion.]
