As an ascetic I came
into this world,
and gained enlightenment
naturally.
I'll die to no one
and none will die to me.
Life and death
are to me the same.

I put no hope or trust in it,
for even a moment.
For wine I, Lali, drank
my own poems.
Then I seized the inner darkness
and tore it down,
cutting and ripping it
to shreds.

Shiva is spread out like a fine net,
He is in your bones.
If you can't see him while living,
then how after death?
Bring out the Self within yourself
through meditation.

The Lalla project is now in the editing/revision stage. To start, I'll be reviewing the first thirty-one poems, which were done in the early period. I will add the transliterated Kashmiri text of each, and each will be freshly posted as a current entry. You can comment, if you like, by writing a "comentario." Thanks for your interest in this project.
